Centre for Theology

and Ministry &

Dalton McCaughey Library

ORMOND COLLEGE, UNIVERSITY OF MELBOURNE

2007

The Centre for Theology & Ministry and the Dalton McCaughey Library was procured by the Uniting Church of Australia to provide a dedicated space for its library that was being housed in the heritage listed Wyselaskie Hall in the new Dalton McCaughey Library and to create a new hub for the organisation with the Centre for Theology and Ministry within Ormond College at the University of Melbourne. Designing over 5,500sqm of dedicated education and short-term residential lodgings, WBa carefully considered their approach in relation to the architecturally important neighbours in Wyselaskie Hall and Maclean House.

Both the 1960’s and the 1890’s heritage context have been influential in the design and the detailing of this contemporary project crafted from concrete and copper. The Centre for Theology and Ministry preserves the historical nature and clarity of both Wyselaskie Hall and Maclean House immediately to the west while establishing a new building of significance in it’s own right.
