Hesse Street Hub
The Hesse Street Hub project is about improvement and integration in the delivery of Library services, Visitor Information service and historical data and research services offered by the Queenscliff Historical Museum. The original historic library building and the Museum Building are set on Field Park, a small but significant open space in Queenscliff’s main street. There is a fine and very large Port Jackson Fig tree on the rear boundary of the site.
Within this sensitive urban setting it is proposed to provide a new infilL building that will be shared by the three organisations for improved delivery of services whilst at the same time maintaining and improving a high quality open urban space for the town.
WBa was commissioned by the Borough of Queenscliffe and has been working with a community reference group which include Council representatives. The new building will integrate the existing buildings into a cohesive and fully accessible whole, complementing the heritage context.
