Inkerman Oasis

Development

ST KILDA

2000

The project combines 240 private and community housing dwellings across six buildings on a 1.25-hectare site in St Kilda, Melbourne. Each unit and building has been designed based on sustainable design principles, including solar orientation, natural ventilation and water recycling. The development has a relatively low site coverage ratio, and includes Australia’s largest on-site residential grey water recycling system which can be remote-monitored over the internet. Each dwelling incorporates state-of-the-art digital networking, wireless digital communication infrastructure and high-speed internet access.

The Oasis was a recipient of the Commonwealth Government Clean Seas Program funding in 2001, for its innovative water conservation strategy.
