Tyne Street
CARLTON
1999
Located in the inner city suburb of Carlton it demonstrates medium density urban infill with a highly sensitive response to the public realm and its pre-existing context.
It combines a major public carpark owned by the City of Melbourne and was designed for ease of use to support the popular adjacent retail zone integrated with 2 and 3 stories private housing above. Understanding the vehicle and pedestrian circulation needs and the subtle topography of the precinct and an effective use of the row house typology led to a fine grain addition to the area set around a new east-west mid block connection.
